• #1 Apple brand in the world
  • Owned by Apple & Pear Australia Ltd. (APAL)
  • An open variety managed for consistency by a strong licensed supply chain
  • Pink Lady® is a brand, not a variety

The Pink Lady® story starts with a superb apple, ‘Cripps Pink’. Its skin is a unique, delightful, blush over a creamy background. To the palate, it has a fresh, zesty-but-sweet taste and crisp, firm texture.

The Cripps Pink variety was bred from a cross between the Golden Delicious and Lady Williams apples, from which final selections were made in the early 1970’s. Cripps Pink was released for commercial production in the early 1990’s and today global production is ever increasing.

The development of the Pink Lady® Brand as a premium quality apple began in the mid-1990s. Today Pink Lady® is one of the best-known brands of fruit in the world and brand owner Apple and Pear Australia Ltd (APAL) has the trademark protected in multiple jurisdictions worldwide.

Each tree in every orchard that produces apples worthy of being sold as Pink Lady® require technicians who are highly trained to ensure the high-quality standards are achieved. The trees that produce Pink Lady® apples are the first to blossom and the last to be harvested as a long ripening process is needed to meet the quality standards. This long ripening process means Pink Lady® spends more time in the natural elements of rain, sun, soil, developing its characteristic depth of flavour.

Only the best of the best apples are selected, hand-picked and given the Pink Lady® seal of approval – the pink heart-shaped sticker you find on every one of our apples. It’s a symbol of its authenticity and guarantees consistent quality.

Every Pink Lady® apple is worth waiting for, a daily practice of care and attention in each orchard across 7-months. This is what helps nature to give us the gift of the finest quality Pink Lady® apples.

The Pink Lady® story is bigger than just the apples bought in stores. It is a global story about connection with land and place, and about trees that are cared for across multiple decades to bring an offering of good food to millions of people world-wide.

The future of growing and supplying good food while taking care of land and place relies heavily on supporting activities that benefit both society and our industry.

Trees that produce Pink Lady® quality fruit flower in abundance, and are a natural support system for bee colonies essential for global food security.

For an apple to be sold under the Pink Lady® brand it will have to – come from the right tree, from the right conditions in an orchard and be subject too good handling, packing and storage all the way through to when it’s offered for sale.

Pink Lady® apples are unique because they have a beautiful appearance, delicious flavour and crisp texture that set them apart from all other apples in the market place.
